  • What criteria applies for the Installation Packages?

    • A licensed electrician may be required for installations above 5kW to ensure proper power supply.
    • A lifter may be necessary for outdoor units installed on brackets above ground level. Council regulations for 1.8metres or lower apply.
    • Advertised prices apply only to back-to-back installations with an existing power supply and up to 5 metres of piping.

  • Newly Installed System Aftercare Requirements

Proper aftercare is essential for a newly installed air conditioning unit. The frequency of servicing depends on how often you use the system and its location within or around your property. Most air conditioning systems come with a manufacturer’s warranty that covers parts and replacement in case of faults.

However, if parts fail due to lack of maintenance, the manufacturer may charge you for repairs. Both the manufacturer & workmanship warranties do not cover issues caused by lack of maintenance, such as blocked filters, clogged drains, or corrosion.

For this reason, regular preventative maintenance is necessary, even if your unit is still under warranty. Routine servicing at least every 12 months, will help maintain the efficiency of your system and extend its lifespan, ensuring you get the most value from your investment.

  • How Does an Air Conditioning System Work?

An air conditioner doesn’t just cool the air—it removes heat from your indoor space and releases it outside using a refrigeration cycle. This process relies on phase conversion, where a special refrigerant fluid continuously shifts between liquid and gas states to absorb and expel heat.

    The Cooling Cycle Explained

    1. Warm indoor air is drawn in through a filter.
    2. The air passes over cold evaporator coils, where the refrigerant absorbs heat, cooling the air.
    3. A fan circulates the cooled air back into the room.Over time, this cycle will cool the room to your ideal temperature.
    4. The refrigerant fluid then needs to be cooled down, as it absorbs all the heat to cool the air, so it flows through the compressor.
    5. The fluid is cooled down as pressure increases through the condenser unit, where it releases the absorbed heat into the outdoor air.
    6. The expansion valve then regulates refrigerant flow, reducing its pressure and cooling it down before sending it back to the evaporator.
    7. The cycle repeats continuously, ensuring consistent and efficient cooling throughout your space.

    Core Components & Their Functions

    • Evaporator Coils: Absorb heat and cool the air.
    • Compressor: Pressurizes and pumps refrigerant through the system.
    • Condenser Coils: Release absorbed heat to the outside air.
    • Expansion Valve: Controls refrigerant flow for optimal cooling efficiency

    The Indoor & Outdoor Systems

    • Indoor Unit: Houses the evaporator and fan, cooling and circulating the air.
    • Outdoor Unit: Contains the compressor and condenser, expelling heat outside.

By continuously cycling refrigerant, an air conditioner maintains your desired temperature efficiently, creating a comfortable indoor environment regardless of outdoor conditions.

  • What Size Air Conditioner Do I need?

Choosing the right size air-conditioning system is a big decision that can turn your house into a refuge from the sweltering Australian summer. However, choosing the wrong size unit can result in huge power bills for an aircon unit that can’t efficiently cool your home.

The size of the Split or Multi Head air conditioning system you need depends on several factors, including the room size, insulation, ceiling height, and averaging temperatures through the seasons.

Here’s a general guide based on room size:

    Split System Sizing Guide:

    • Up to 20m² (e.g., small bedroom or office) → 2.5kW
    • 20-30m² (e.g., larger bedroom, small living room) → 3.5kW
    • 30-45m² (e.g., medium living room) → 5.0-6.0kW
    • 45-60m² (e.g., large living area) → 7.0-8.0kW
    • 60m²+ (open-plan areas) → Consider multiple units or a Multi Head system

To measure square metres (m²), you can use a measuring tape to find the length and width of the place, then multiply the two numbers together  (length x width = m²).

Example: If a room is 6 meters long and 4 meters wide, then the area is (6 x 4=24m²)

    Multi Head System Considerations:

If you want to cool multiple rooms but don’t have space for multiple outdoor units, a Multi Head system allows you to connect several indoor units to one outdoor unit. Each room’s size will determine the required indoor unit capacity.
